Her Story, Background, and Inspirations
Psychologist for English and Turkish speaking expats in Netherlands
As a clinical psychologist practicing in the Netherlands, I specialize in offering psychotherapy to English and Turkish speaking expats. I utilize a variety of multidisciplinary methods, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), schema therapy, and mindfulness, tailoring each approach to the unique needs of my clients. My therapy sessions are available both online and in-person.
International background
My international background has given me valuable experience in working with diverse populations. I have attended multiple summer programs at the University of Toronto in Canada, a pre-college program at Brown University in Rhode Island, USA, an Erasmus program at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, and provided research assistance for immigration studies at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, where I wrote my thesis on 'Social Anxiety and Biased Information Processing' under the supervision of Freddy van der Veen.
Education
After completing my high school education at Hisar School, I graduated with an honorable degree in Psychology from Istanbul Bilgi University. My internships took place at Balikli Greek Hospital, YOL clinic, ABC clinic, and GGZ in Balans. I have been involved in several research projects, including Falih Koksal's 'Classical Conditioning in the Sexual Behavior of Animals' research project at Bogazici University as a research assistant in 2017, and the migration research project 'ExiTT' at Humboldt-University Berlin as a research assistant in 2018.
Currently based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, I provide therapy in both Turkish and English to expats facing challenges such as stress, depression, cultural adjustment, anxiety, self-esteem issues, compulsions, grief, and personal growth. More..
